Dholera SIR Virtual Tour

The Dholera SIR (Special Investment Region) will broadly comprise of various zones including residential, commercial, financial, manufacturing, processing, entertainment and institutional and others in addition to the world class infrastructure in terms of road, water, sanitation and other facilities. Taking into account various factors like availability of govt. land, population of the affected villages, flooding in the area, proximity to Ahmadabad, closeness of ports and airport locations, a final delineation has been worked out for Dholera SIR, which comprises of 22 villages of Ahmadabad District of which 19 are of Dhanduka Taluka and 3 are of Bharvala taluka. An areaof around 872 Sq. Kms. Will be delineated as the SIR area. However, actual urban development of SIR area would be approximately 500 Sq. Kms (50000 Hectares).
The development plan specifically protects the farmers’ interests and avoids direct land acquisition by the government. Instead, it ensures land acquisition by industry from the farmers. And, with the availability of proper infrastructure according to the development plan, the farmers are sure to get better realizations,” says a DSIRDA official who does not wish to be named.
Apart from land, the smart city announcement is also expected to attract investment into the region. For making it a smart city, the progress on an ICT Master Systems Integrator for implementation of Smart City Components at Dholera SIR was recently reviewed by DSIRDA officials and experts from the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. While British infrastructure development company Halcrow has been roped in as a master planner, CISCO and IBM have been contracted the work. These are for a centralized digital control of all infrastructural facilities like water, power and gas traffic through an underground sensor system reporting to a central control room at DSIR. Soon, work on two TP schemes will simultaneously be undertaken in each of the threephases.3
